St Austell man who assaulted police officers sentenced A 21-year-old man has been sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for two years, after attacking police officers on two separate occasions last year. Marc Tuft, of Trevarthian Road, admitted to an assault in February 2026 after he punched, kicked and headbutted two police officers in St Blazey. He also pleaded guilty to a further assault which took place in St Austell town centre in August 2025 where he bit a police officer in the arm which later caused scarring. PS Martin Easter said: “This type of violence will not be tolerated, whether against an emergency service worker or a member of public, we’ll do all we can to make sure our communities remain a safe place for everyone. “The officers injured during the assaults have all made a full recovery.” Tuft appeared at Cornwall Magistrates Court on 21 April where he admitted to two counts of assault by beating an emergency worker and assault occasioning actual bodily harm against a police officer. In addition to the suspended sentence, the court also ordered Tuft to pay a fine and engage in a rehabilitation programme.
